Creating Collage with the artist, K. Goodman!

Student Collages ala' Romare Bearden

A tremendous thank you goes to Mrs. Goodman and her husband who laser cut all our houses for the collages.  She is donating all her time and expertise to the boys and girls to learn about collage.  We couldn't do it without her support and artistic flair!

This is a month-long Black History Month project.  We began by studying the Artists of the Harlem Renaissance.  We are creating collages in homage to Romare Bearden.  Click on his name to watch a short video about his life and work.

Our inspiration for this project is from the book,
African-American Crafts Kids Can Do!

We started by putting our pictures in the windows.

Next we gathered all the images from magazines and other pictures the students brought from home.

We glued the images inside the windows of your house or on the sidewalk, yard or street.

There are so many decisions when you begin a work of art.

We just started, but here are some of the finished products!
