Life Science: Growing a Lawn

We started a new unit on life science.  In this investigation students will grow grass and grain seeds to study the life cycle of plants.

First we filled our cups with potting soil.

The potting soil is a mix of dirt and perlite to keep moisture in the soil.

The boys and girls were examining the potting soil.

We used two kinds of seeds in our lawns.

We put a pinch of alfalfa and rye seeds in our cups.

The two types of seeds we planted are rye and alfalfa seeds.

Here are our cups of lawn!
