All the fossils are ready for the 2nd firing in the kiln.

Making fossils is the last science project for the year.

I'm so glad I learned how to use the kiln this year.  Next year we expect to make handprints and fossils and more in the kiln.  I am stoked!

Making Fossils--1st grade paleontologists!

Almost done.  Now its the first graders turn to finish their fossils.

We are totally focused on our work!

Josiah loves science!

Working hard!

I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Summer's actually looks life a fossil, it broke during firing.

Ms. Shirley is our Wonder of Reading Librarian.

This is the fabulous Ms. Shirley, our Librarian.
It's the end of the year and we're almost ready to fly away on summer vacation.

There is so much to do at the end of the year!

Ms. Shirley knows all our kids by name.

We would like to honor all the hard work from the cafeteria staff!

Ms. Valerie and Ms. Llona come in every day to make us hot breakfast and lunch!

I love to see Ms. Valerie's smiling face when I get my morning coffee.

Can you believe that the ladies get here around 6-ish to prepare Breakfast in the Classroom?

We love lunchtime!

Ms. Valerie always has a smile for a child.

Choices, choices, choices!

Ms. Llona rings everyone up, not only for my class, but for every class.  Do you know that the ladies know every child by name at WHES.  They are our unsung heroes!

Our Gardeners have a request.

Nyla asks, "Please clean up the trash around the garden, we want to have a trash free flower zone!"

Bella is deadheading!

Deadheading is where you cut off the spent flower blooms.  This helps the plant bloom more.

A garden this big is a full time job.

Keeping the garden clean uses up many recess minutes!  A big thank you for all the hard work of the 2nd grade gardeners!

Making Fossils--the 2nd Graders are paleontologists!

The students are ready to paint!

Making Fossils--Parent Volunteers make projects fun!

Our fabulous parent volunteers, Ms. Liz and Ms. Blanca helped us fire the fossils in the kiln and this is how they turned out.  The clay is called "bisque" right after it is fired.  The next step is to paint the bisque.  We used emerald green, canary yellow and speckled green for our colors!

There is so much to do before the students begin painting the bisque.

Small Group Instruction with Ms. Munoz!

Yesenia says, learning is fun in a small group!

Ms. Recendez and I will miss Ms. Munoz.  We are sorry to see you leave, but so excited that you are on your own path as an educator.  Ms. Munoz, you will be missed!
