Making Fossils with our 1st and 2nd Grade Friends!

2nd Graders are studying Pebbles, Sand and Silt in Science and are learning how fossils were created.  We are making fossils using clay, and have to have our clay be at least 1/2 inch thick. 

We used chicken and fish bones, leaves, ferns, and shells to make our fossils.  We are also studying dinosaurs and making hypothesis about what caused the extinction event.   

 Bella brought in beautiful leaves for her fossils.

 Songhai is making sure there are no cracks in the clay or it may break in the kiln!

Will wants to know, "What do paleontologists do?'

 Nyla brought in a beautiful fern for her fossil.  She was interested in the plants that lived long, long ago.

 Antonio said there are 4 main theories of what may have caused the dinosaur extinction.  Can you tell us one theory in the comments?
