Science in Action--Earth Day Projects

Earth Day Projects
The 2nd grade created Reduce, Reuse, Recycle wheels that gave examples of items that can be put in the recycling bin at home and at school!

Earth Day activities 1st Grade.  Students created Earth Day Hats with the reduce, reuse, recycle logo.  1st and 2nd graders discussed what we each can do to make the earth a better place.

We do a Science Experiment a week in 1st and 2nd Grade!  Here the 1st grade students are working on the experiment, Constructing with Solids.  The challenge activity was to build a tower with two cups, two cardboard squares, a straw, two rubber bands, a craft stick and a sheet of aluminum foil.  Let's see what the boys and girls in 1st grade constructed.

It takes a lot of thought to build a tower!

Success!

Gabrielle is explaining to the class how she built her tower.

Ms. Recendez reviewing our concepts and key vocabulary for the science challenge.

2nd Grade Science Experiment
Sorting and categorizing rocks, in the unit, Pebbles, Sand and Silt.  The 2nd graders are given six different types of rocks and they must categorize them in size and color.  We also drew what we observed and listed the properties of the rocks in our science journals.
