Don't Bug Me! The Secret Life of Butterflies and Ladybugs!

We are studying the lifecycles of ladybugs and butterflies.  Check out all the fun activities we did!

First we learned the life cycle of butterflies.

Next we observed our Cup of Caterpillars from Insect Lore.  Did you know that butterflies go through a METAMORPHOSIS?

We used scientific tools like
magnifying glasses to observe the larva.

We got our larva from InsectLore.com.  Click on the link to go to their website.

Then we wrote and drew our observations about the caterpillars.  We can also call the caterpillars, larva.

We also learned about the life cycles of plants like sunflowers!

We learned about insects like bees!

One station used the Google Classroom to teach
students about life cycles!

We learned all the parts of a flower!

We also learned all about Sunflowers!

Finally, we had a great Science Day learning all about the life cycles of plants and animals.

Science Standards:

  • Identify and describe the basic needs of living things in a terrestrial habitat.
  • Students know different plants and animals inhabit different kinds of environments and have external features that help them thrive in different kinds of places.
  • Students know animals eat plants or other animals for food and may also use plants or even other animals for shelter and nesting.
